Ok so here we go with the first of my issues that i need to fix on my new car.

the Climate control hisses at me when its switched on, and doesn't cool - is this a regas? or somethign worse?

if a Re-gas can i just go to Halfrauds? any expereicen with them fixing it?

What sort of hisss? If its a gas escaping then you will need to repair the hole before new gas goes in.
not a constant one, kind of when it starts up like a "groaning" hiss and then no cold air

Kwik fit do a aircon service where they look for leaks for £45
That was the answer I needed :) (more about the cost than the place :) )

I think it's very unlikely that the "hiss" will be escaping gas. Aircon systems run at fairly high pressures and if there's the tiniest leak, the gas will escape, with or without the aircon switched on. They then have a low pressure switch which stops the pump from running when the aircon is switched on if the gas pressure has dropped below a certain level. This is to protect the pump from damage. If the pump is cutting in, therefore, there is still gas in your system (although the level might be geting low) and a leak big enough for you to hear would empty the system in seconds.

It MIGHT be a noisy expansion valve in the evaporator (although they tend to "whistle" rather than hiss).

If it were me, I think I'd be looking for a small independent specialist. Of couse, you might get a good chap at your local Kwik Fit or Halfrauds, but I have a deep mistrust of all these large national chains when it comes to cars that are a bit unusual. Last time I went for tyres I only JUST managed to get out of the waiting room in time to stop the young muppet jacking my 164 up on its plastic sill covers!

I'd also be wary of using one of the various magic "leak stopping potions" on the market as I don't know what other side effects they might have elsewhere in the system. Probably best (in the long run) to just get the fault fixed, even if it's more expensive in the short term!

kwik fit is a good bet as if they can't fix it (ie more than a regas!) then you don't pay....and then you can take it to a proper place :D

it only hisses for about 2 mins after ignition, and then just nothing - going with the no-win no-fee idea i think and like Niall says if they can't fix i'l take it somewhere else.

Very odd alright
After I had my new climate control fan fitted, I regassed my own one and a few days later it was running warm again. I heard a hissing sound and it was from outside, right behind the centre of the dash as I had left the pollen filter/fuse/relay cover off until I got a new pollen filter

Anyway, took it back to guy who fit the climate control fan and it turned out that when he was reassembling everything, he must have dropped a seal from the expansion valve. Fit a new seal, regassed again and its working away great since

Yep. :D

Don't you?

Have you a circuit diagram for a Digilogic DTSB1000.
Tripped the whole house the other day and another 5A fuse went to alfa fuse heaven where it will meet up with the 125A one.:D

I reckon I would go with Kwikfit if and only if (Ah that old math equation ) they warranty it ..The specialist who did lacey when I got her didn't fix her right and I took her back .(He even kept her overnight at the origoinal trader repair before I got her so he couild obtain the correct Alfa o rings and do it right as he stated someone had a feenble attempt at fixing it before...He knew that just by looking)..When I took it back with the receipt he said i'd need to pay for a new condenser at the front even although the dye never showed a problem...the way he put the pipes back together at the bulkhead i decided that there was no way i was leaving her with him...he een took 100 off the trader from whom i bought the car after he allegedly fixed her.A wee top up with the kit from Halford to detect the leak but i still have to look..I reckon its un
Pomeonear the bulkhead where the specialist was...waiting for laceys fan to go and the kill two birds with the one stone.
keep us posted PF.

Good stuff PF.

But the poof of the pudding is in the eating.

Hope it lasts longer than Lacey's Expert repair...3 months and then no cooling...So he didnae fix it after all.But if the gas needs topped up as stu says it must be leaking somewhere.Like a slow puncture....Hope they gave you a 12 months warranty.:D

good stuff PF - looks like kiwkfit have their uses after all :D

Yep they sure due Niall BUT not for eveything..There specials can be oh so special....but for evrything else a distinct no no.
