Dear Alfisti,

After reading many posts on the connector located in the rear quarter being the culprit for the airbag light (which is driving me mad), I thought I should have a go at it.

Taking a close look at the connector, it seemed to be in good condition, there was however something that is puzzling me. The cable colours from the one connector to the other didn't match up. The blue connector on the feed was connected to a different colour on the airbag side and vice versa.

I hope you can see how it is on the attached photo. Does anyone has knowledge of this or knows if he has the same thing in his Alfa?

FiatECU scan gives error code 21 - curtain airbag squib (Driver). There were some other errors but were cleared when I disconnected the battery

Cheers

Thanks

Sorry Guys,

Maybe I should have clarified a little bit better. My bad, this is my first time writing in a forum.

I bought the car about 6 weeks ago, and the Airbag light was already on, so I don't know if the connector was wrong in the first place, or should I look elswhere for the cause.

It is a 156 SW 1.9jtd '04 plate. She's now trying to win a place in my heart alongside my sexy ex-alfa 155 1.8TS '96 wide-body which never gave me any problems...apart from the sunroof rusting away, and the clutch slave, and the windscreen wipers. but that's it, really

Cheers

Connector seems to be butchered, you better take the connector off and solder the wires ( take the - off of the battery before doing so)

Sorted!
Before ripping the cable connections apart, I though I'd check the airbag connector on the passenger side. It looks like the have no colour coding system for the cables, they just fit whatever is whithin their reach...why bother right? so then i decided to shake all the connections in the loop, under the seats, near the airbag ECU you name it...and light went off!:)

air bag fault

Hi and thanks for the great advice, I had three faults on the system when I got connected to the CPU. The first two cleared no problem but the curtain airbag squib (Driver) fault would not clear. i read this article, cleaned the connector in the rear light access point and the fault reset. A happy Alfa owner once again.
