I left the car ticking over today and noticed an intermittant clicking noise (quite loud) fromthe front. I am pretty sure that it is the air con compressor clutch. I had just been going along a wet road so maybe some water got into the relay box, although it seemed dry.

Unfortunatly as my air con has leaked all the refridgerant away the pressure switch wont allow the aircon to be selected by the climate control, so I can't turn it on and off to check the noise.

Anyone else ever had this?

The aircon on my 156 does this all the time when ticking over. The clutch seems to disengage at tickover speeds but only under certain conditions (who knows the vagaries of alfa climate control). However, as yours doesn`t work, I`m with JB, save the bhp and the trouble and pull the fuse :D
