Hi I am considering buying a 2002 156 2.0 JTD.

It has 103k on the clock and the MOT is due in November. The seller has said that there is a crunching sound when the car pulls away but it is intermittant. It is coming from the rear and he suspects it could be the suspension/wishbone...

My concern is that this man buys and sells cars regularly (he is local) so must know more about cars than he is letting on, so I'm wondering if this is genuine or if there is something costly that could be happening. The car is only £1000 and is in fab condition inside and out, but I dont know much about Alfa's mechanically.

My local garage are not Alfa specialists and I wondered what you guys think it could be? Any help would be appreciated. Is it worth the risk or should I steer clear??

tell him to put 12 months mot on it or walk away, hard to sell a car with just 2 months mot

there are 2 radius arms per side at the rear.........these knock when u got over a pothole when worn
the only other thing is the trailing arm......?

more important is to see proof of when the timing belts and waterpump where done..........if no proof and they go itll cost u £1500 to £2000 to fix it
