Drove my mates new Citroen DS5 Sport last night.

I have to say, what a car, specifically the styling, interior and gadgets.

It was a 2 litre diesel with 160bhp but so quiet & refined, even on cold start:eek: Drove lovely too with no French grabby brakes. In short, stunning.

Even with his Plod discount it was £29k though:wow:

I wouldn't spooge ~30 grand on a Citron.

The C4s I've driven are adequate but I wouldn't ever want to own one.
The DERVs seem okay. But they are still DERVs.

Is it the one where they've ditched the Citroen chevrons?

Saw one the other day in white, could see the DS but could not make out the number until I got up its chuffer.

Very, Very stylish and big.:thumbs:

Citroen are bringing out some good product now, way ahead of Peugeot and Renault IMO. Just wish they still had some of that old Citroen zanyness but reliable at the same time.

Chucked it on the table in the coffee area and
everyone scoffed at it with disdain.

The French have always been patriotic when it comes to cars, doesn't mean the cars themselves were much good. If government had not intervened a few times in the last 50 years the French car industry would look very different today (i.e - non existent ;) ).

Not from those figures.

Don't knock the Dacias. There's a massive market for what are basically new
10 year old Clios:

10/ Dacia Sandero : 44 357
12 / Dacia Duster : 40 167
68/ Dacia Lodgy : 6 502
71/ Dacia Logan MCV II : 6 345


They sold more Lodgys than Alfa did Giuliettas., FFS :(

Citroen are trying to launch DS as a separate luxury brand, so no more double chevron on there. A shame that, as I think it's a really strong design element in it's current layout see here http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?id=HN.607994325405468240&pid=15.1&P=0 . Saw some DS ads in a foreign land a few months ago, and there was no mention of Citroen at all.

Citroen normally do easy going high mileage luxury cruising quite well (XM, CX etc.) and that's why I got mine. Also they are not so common here in the UK - on the 'how many left' website I find less than 100 of my model UK registered. I've not been in a DS5 but I understood the ride was a bit hard (the opposite of what you want in a Citroen) but the interior design looks interesting.

In fairness mine's done 90k miles in 3 years at 40mpg with the same 240hp V6 as used in XJ6/XF with not a single issue (oh, the back massager sometimes needs to be adjusted).

I saw a C4 Picasso the other day, and it had a big red forward facing screen just inside the windscreen. What's that then?

My guesses were either a HUD, or a speed limit reader.
