Hi All,

I broke the ABS sensor on my Phase 1 GTV whilst trying to remove it from the hub. Since then, the ABS warning light has been on. I've recently bought a replacement sensor and will be fitting it soon. Will the warning light automatically automatically de-activate once the new sensor is fitted, or will it need to be re-set using a diagnostic tool?

Happily, the light will turn off once the self-test succeeds. :)

I have no idea why the airbag light can't be the same (apparently, that will turn off after 40 hours of running.)

The ABS light will come on if, for example, you start the engine with front wheels raised (they tend to spin, so the system 'sees' two faulty rear sensors. Fortunately as soon as the car's back on the ground and the key turned off/on, the light will be off.

By the way, AlfaOBD (software) can connect to the ABS ECU. The diagnostic connector is near the ABS unit on the phase-1.
