Just in case anyone who uses the road on a Friday evening or Sunday afternoon is reading this...

60MPH!!! That's what the "national speed limit" sign means. Not "go at 40 and look at the scenery"! Not "ooh...lets slow down and look at the pretty windmills..."...60 ******g MP-******g-H and not a mph less you slow, useless ********!!!

...and please consider if you really, really need to drag your ugly, fat caravan/wife/tractor/lorry with you? Are you doing it on purpose?

Especially up the hill to Blubberhouses! Why are you ALWAYS on that stretch?

Good job I chill out and listen to the stereo on the weekly commute or my blood pressure would be off the scale!

Ah...much better...thanks for listening.

Serves you right for skirting around the Dales when you could have drove straight through them.

Shame on you :p

Its a limit not a target
While everyone knows it is a limit and not a target, there is also the need to keep traffic flowing. Most people accept that a 60 road will never be a 60 road due to HGV and other slower moving traffic but you should keep to a sensible speed without endangering yourselves or others, AND DON'T DO IT DURING THE BUSIEST TIME OF THE DAY!

The solution these days is to drop the speed limit to whatever the plodders happen to want to do and then put up signs saying "THIRTEEN PEOPLE USING THIS ROAD HAVE BEEN SLIGHTLY INJURED IN THE LAST FIFTEEN YEARS BY LUNATICS LIKE YOU" as justification.

+1

You should always drive at the speed limit if it is safe to do so. Doing 40 because you are gawping at the scenery is not on IMO, it is showing no consideration for other road users who are being unduly delayed. The speed limit is indeed a target, where the road conditions allow.

Oops - we got admin'd on this one!

Could it have been the foul and abusive language introduced by the caravan towing MiTo owner Mr Robins?

Perhaps we should start up another thread suggesting a car for some-one who thinks owning an Alfa should not be an excuse for driving quickly?

Proton Savvy?

Perodua Kenari?

Sorry - that last bit didn't make much sense? Try typing more slowly? It's the rant room you really shouldn't get worked up by it!

Chervrolet Matiz - that one gets 54 mpg which should suit you no end, especially with the van on the back?

:cheese:
