Just moved from a 2.0l to jtd and was lucky to get two keys .
Yes you guessed , one didn't work , so was about to chase up the eBay site for repair when I had a thought, never actually tried the duff key in the ignition , so that worked but would not unlock. So while activating the locks with the good key I noticed while touching blades the good key wouldn't operate, separated them and it worked again , tried the duff key and it started working again RESULT!
A good tip for anyone with same problem. I did measure the voltage on the key fob battery it still showed above 3 volts but a little down on the printed value on the battery itself . Maybe it reenergised it a little , enough for a while I don't know , time will tell.

I originally tested the battery volts and chafed for new but it didn't open/shut doors so put the old back in , so it's now working with original battery showing 3.04, new battery 3.28 , have used with old several times since , so all well at the moment.
