I detailed my 166 vver the weekend, a good wash, a claying, then a final deep wet shine wax. ( yes I know this is the 156 forum, but this allies to them as well, particularly facelift headlights.

I wondered what would happen to the very poor milky headlights if I clayed them.
Beautiful! the task took 5 minutes, I didnt have to use a resto kit, nor did I have to put a clear coat on afterwards.
Two uses from one product, in this case meguiars Quick Clay detailing system.

Very useful to know, thanks. This is something on my to do list...
Just to point out that a clear coat or some UV protection will certainly be required, because you have in your polishing efforts you have removed any vestiges of the factory protection.
This likely wasn't really working any more, though, as you lights were already milky.
So unless you want milky lights again in 6 months to a year, I would suggest a UV protective clear coat.
