Ok,

Here's a question for you ...

You need performance (and I mean need) you need space (tent, 2 people luggage etc).

you generally don't need them at same time - and you do over 20K a year.

For various reasons I find myself with a fiat panda 100Hp and a porsche cayman and nothing larger. - The panda just about fits me and a weekends camping gear - similar to the cayman.

you also don't have huge (relatively) amount of funds.

What do you do

I have 3 options in my head at the moment

1) the more money than sense option - sell panda and cayman - buy a 911.
pros - it's a 911 carrera 2S almost dream car.

2) sell panda, keep cayman and buy a cheap 159 lusso poverty spec.

3) sell panda, keep cayman and buy a 156 20V multijet sportwagon.

I'm also tempted by the thought of an X-trail for about the same price as the 156 as a possible tow car if I get the boat I'm thinking of next year - the 156 would do this well too....

The 911 is a dream but 20K a year in it is just extravagant....

go on - rip me to shreds...

SImes.

I'd go with option 3.

Buying the 911 doesn't seem to make sense: as you say doing 20,000 miles a year isn't going to be cheap in such a car and if you struggle with camping gear in a Panda I reckon you'll be leaving your tent at home with a 911.

The 159 is lovely but the way I look at it is that the 156 is 90% as good but at half the price.

You don't get many chances to live your dreams, if you get a chance to buy a 911, then do it
