Hi I am a newbie (in more ways than this forum) and have an issue with my 2000 timing. I should say that this engin was originaly injected but now has webbers. I recently found that the advance was not working as the rotor was jamming on the center of the weight assembly. I have fixed that but now when the engine is reved it starts to accelerate well but then hesitates before accelerating again. The timing is on the mark at idle and does advance but I have not checked it at 4600 revs yet. The springs look rusted but seem to be intact. Does anyone know where I an get a replacement weight assembly or does anyone have another idea what may cause this? Also does anyone know how far the Idle mixture screws should be turned out for a starting point. Mine are currently 3.75 turns.

Hi Alfanut,
A split diaphragm on the vacuum advance can cause this problem. Is the distributer original? Some Inox on the weights might help. It's usually ok to set the idle timing a few degrees in advance in older vehicles.
Cheers,
