59 MiTo - Gearbox Oil?

Hi all, first post on the sub.

Hope everyone is staying safe and well.

My 59 MiTo is coming up to 75k miles now and I have been doing the usual service. However, my brother pointed out to me that there is nothing in the owners manual about checking the gearbox oil...

Thought this was very weird - I had a look and there is nothing. Is this something I should be worried about? Can I even check the gearbox oil level? Am I missing something here?

Sorry if this is a completely novice question but we are both stumped!

Thanks again folks!

Hi,

It's supposedly for the life of the car but I wouldn't risk it. If it's the m32 gearbox I would definitely change it, they are prone to high heat and bearing wear. I just changed mine yesterday and it's quite straight forward to do, there's loads of info on the m32 box just do a search.

Take care (y)

Hi Sheepshead,

Thanks for sharing this information. I have the 1.4 non-tubro version therefore I do not have the M32 gearbox. Next major service I may send it to a specialist and for them to check if everything is okay with the gearbox. Definitely worth the check from people who know what they are doing! ;)

Thanks again.
