Hi all I’m new on here so please be gentle.

Been to see a 53 reg 156 JTD 16v M-Jet today.
The owner says it’s a 150bhp but it was my understanding that at this age power was 140bhp?

The car was first resisted in January 2004

Can any one confirm?

Many thanks, Andy

Easy one to check.

Lift the bonnet and look at chassis plate on slam panel on right hand side.

Look at engine code half way down list. Codes for engines are:

140bhp: 192A5000
150bhp: 937A5000

The 150bhp version only became available as you say in 2005 but this is a sure way of checking.

Hope that helps.

I think that there are very few 150BHP 156's - mine was built in May 05 and has a 140BHP (192A5000) motor and production finished only a few months later

It'll definitely a 140 but the vendor can be shown otherwise with the engine codes:lol:

Thanks for the replies (you guys work fast):wow:
It’s had its belt done at the 720000 mile service but the pump has never been changed.
I’ve read your detailed thread about pumps and was wondering if you recommend pulling it apart again?

Thanks again, Andy

:vomit:I do believe that the 150bhp motor became available from November 2004. When looking for a diesel back in 07/08 Mango's emailed me details of a 147. That only had 140bhp so I waited a while more till I found something a bit more manly:cheese: Got my pukka 156 from Veloces with the pukka 150bhp 2 years ago and am happy as the proverbial pig :cheese::wow: :vomit:
