This was up for 3895 a couple of months ago as a private sale, but with all the work needing doing, there's a thread on here somewhere.

I'll eat my hat if he gets 8 grand for that.

I sometimes wonder why I bother

I expected better from the GTA lounge & owners but I suppose I should get used to it by now.

Those who have bought a GTA for £3k ish have either bought an absolute bargain or one that needs a lot spending on it, normally the latter. It's easy to spend a couple of grand or more on these cars.

I had a similar response when advertising these cars on AO:

Alfa Romeo Classifieds - Auctions - 2001 156 2.0 TS Sportwagon Veloce manual - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds

Alfa Romeo Classifieds - Auctions - 147 1.9 JTD M-Jet 16v Lusso 5 door Turbo Diesel - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds

Alfa Romeo Classifieds - Auctions - 2004 54 Alfa Romeo GT 1.9 JTD 16V M-jet 170 bhp - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds

Alfa Romeo Classifieds - Auctions - 2008 Alfa Romeo 159 2.4 JTDM Lusso 6 speed manual - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds

Alfa Romeo Classifieds - Auctions - 156 2.5 V6 'Special' Q2 Koni FSDs Eibachs 6 speed - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds

Alfa Romeo Classifieds - Auctions - GTV 3.0 V6 24v Lusso Q2 GTA Clutch Cup Look Teles - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds

You'll notice they all sold, for either the asking price or very close.

I'm not interested in selling to diy mechanics but to people who want a ready to go car, which cost a lot for me to prepare properly. I also have to pay labour for most of the mechanical work + paintwork etc, I can't do everything myself just the detailing etc. I also have overheads, like inside storage etc.

Wake up people, properly prepared cars, not just Alfas, are worth more than your average private sale. Notice I did say average, you have to generalise in these situations as there are always exceptions to the rule.

I suppose the proof will be in the sale.

Come back and let us know what you do end up selling it for.

The above hat eating comment was meant to be a joke. Apologies if it came across as arrogant or rude. IMO - and I looked a lot of GTA's before I purchased mine a few months back - yours is worth around 6 (even fully prepped as you suggest). But that is just one opinion among many.

But i guess being a dealer you know things I don't - so good luck to you. Having said all that, Clive is right, we should be talking up the values, not talking them down!

I used to own a motorcycle accessory business (online only). Most online businesses will tell you the same - there are two types of clientel....the ebay, diy, want it for nothing brigade, and the quality brigade who are happy to pay top whack for things.

The first lot used to drive me berserk, although I fit perfectly in that category!. The second lot can be a cash pinata.

I'm sure that the car will sell for close to the asking price. Best of luck with it.

Agree with Maxiboy and Joss - excellent combo of blue with Imola interior.
Good luck with the sale - values need to rise as I believe they are woefully low at current.

By your standards I should have advertised my GT at £9,995
With all respect, and as nice as your GT is, it is not a GTA. So Apples and Oranges etc (or Granny Smith's and Gala if you prefer).

This has been said before, but as the owners of these cars why do we always try and beat the price down? IMHO, it's a nice car, and the fact it's done 100k is irrelevant. It's all about the service history and TLC.

You forgot to list "cup holder" this is critical to justify strong 147 pricing over the lower 156 models.

Normal fare in here, talk the car up as being great and little to beat the pull it gives the heart strings but as soon as one is listed for sale at the higher end of things the seller gets bombed.

Good luck with sale
