Hi guys,

Got an opportunity here with a guy selling a 1993 33 for parts.

Mine is a 1988 series 2.

How similar if not the same are the following parts (straight swap possible?):

Windscreen wiper motor and linkages
Door window trim and rubber door seals
Petrol locking cap
Steering wheel

These 33's are rare to come by here especially for parts. Any other things I should pick up that may come in handy?

Cheers

I think the only difference is on the suspension mounting points with 3 bolts instead of 4 so they cannot be swapped. Almost everything else , especially mechanically are pretty much the same.

Every mentioned parts are interchangeable.
At the wiper assembly there is a little difference
(as I know), the power supply wires are running on
a different path, therefore the wire length
from the motor to the connector may be different.

I've attached some pictures. You can see the wiper
power supply connector location (marked with red arrow)
on a 1994 33, and the wiper motor assembly.

Maybe the wiper arms might come in handy later.

You've mentioned you have a series 3 QV from '88.
I'm a little confused because I think the series 3
was't launched before 1989. (triple pulley in another
topic...)

:wow::wow:

Why did I think it was S3? Now that explains a lot. Feel like a right dipstick now.

Yes S2 1988.

Yes, it's definitely a real nice S2 !

About the S3 parts: the alternator has a greater peak current (65 Ampers)
compared to S2 (55 Ampers), and also "hot-swappable".
And how about a spare water pump?

Does anyone know if the S3 has a better functioning wiper motor than the S2 1988 or is it identical (slow and weak - or maybe my motor has been bad from the start)?

I fitted a series 3 wiper motor in my series 2 a few years back, there is not much difference in speed but the mechanical mechanism is quiter and smoother action. There was a little difference in the wipers arm that mounts to the bolt which pokes throught the window valence but this is over come by using the series 3 wiper arms. I also replaced my altinator and that improved battery life and general running of any of the electrical components.

Thxs Ian.

I have a motor and linkage available from a S3 1993 for about 150 USD. I'll make sure it comes with the wiper arms also.

So the fixtures/bolt locations are the same I assume.

My wipers are a disaster (had a short circuit about 6 months ago, mechanic said he fixed it but seems he didn't fix the root problem). Depends on the rain. If it's normal heavy rain that runs of the glass then the wipers really struggle to even move across and my battery light flashes as if its pulling all the current!!

If it's really drizzly wet rain that sticks to the glass then less problems as the glass seems more slippy.
