hi - i have a new set of 17 multi spoke going on my 156 and i have 5 goodyear f1 225/45/17 tyres at home which were for my volvo but never fitted - can i use these on the alfa insteat of the 215/45/17 - are the any issues - thanks :)

If they are standard Alfa 17" wheels with 40mm offset then you will have problems with 225/45. The inside of the tyre runs very close to the suspension upright where it curves over the tyre.

I run 225/45 on my GTA wheels which have 35mm and everything is fine

7" rim, 215 max recommended tyre.
GTA rims are 7.5" wide and run 225.
Yes you can go wider but you will compromise handling by excess tyre roll.
Quite a few 7" rims only run 205 tyres which will be nice and tight, 215 will be good also, 225 is too much.

Thanks for the info - the wheels are 17 inch alfa multi spoke - look like what were on the touring car but not white - hope it will be ok will try one on front to see - great site btw :)

Give the 225/45 a try - some people have fitted them without problem but check the top inside of the tyre where it comes close to the suspension - it will only be a few mm clearance.
