Hello there,

I have taken ownership of a 2011 1.9 JTDM-2 170 Giulietta Veloce and this one has the integrated pop up Sat Nav screen in it.

However, it doesn't seem to seeing any satellites and therefore isn't working.

Its just been into my local independent Alfa specialist for a Cam Belt change and they've taken a look at it and reported back that there doesn't seem to be any power getting to the roof aerial. They are summising that they might need to remove the roof liner and take the dash units out to check continuity as there might be a wiring fault or faulty aerial base.

Any help would be most welcome as obviously I want to keep costs to a minimum!

Any ideas anyone? Thanks!

Thanks Craig - since posting i've seen other posts on here about the same issue. Do you (or anyone) know roughly how much a new base costs and how much to fit? Or can I buy on myself from anywhere (i've looked on eBay but to no avail!)

Don't know the cost I'm afraid mine was always fixed under Warranty. I'm told it's easy enough to do yourself if you're happy taking the headlining down, hopefully somebody who's done it will be along to be more help.

I paid £118.86 parts & labour from main dealer to have mine sorted

Make sure you get the latest base as they're more corrosion resistant then the originals.

Just a quick update for everyone - had the base replaced yesterday (£53.19 & VAT & Fitting) and all is working again so i'm very happy. The original was as you quite rightly pointed out, very corroded and so this newer version will withstand any further corrosion much better!

Also had some Alfa Romeo engine software updates installed and the placebo effect has kicked in making the car feel and drive much better!

I love having an Alfa Romeo again!

Where did you have this done please? My local Alfa want £92 plus vat just to look in to the issue

Maybe an idea to PM him as he doesn't seem that frequent a visitor. Last visit was a week ago. Did you notice the price he quoted was plus VAT and fitting? He seems to have been careful not to give the full cost

I took my aerial base apart on the weekend, and it was full of water, so im ordering the part today and will fit it myself, found a few pages on here on how to do it. and that price I was quoted was just for an hours work to look at my car, and tell me what I needed. It wasn't even a price for a new base fitting
