hI THERE i have a 2010 10 reg alfa giulietta with dash lights on comes up on display steering corrector unavailiable see handbook and vdc unavailable powersteering still works fine i also have traction light on please help i took car to a speacialist who said it needs a new steering column but im sure steering corrector is fitted in steering rack and not in steering column please help

I would not rush to replace the electric power steering unit until you are really sure.
I had this issue occur once on my car, however after 3 key starts/restarts the fault cleared its self and has not reoccurred yet..
Something as simple as a voltage spike/electronic garbage on the CAN bus can set a false positive, and yes even a dying battery.

Warm the car up, and make sure the battery has plenty of charge, and then conduct 3 on/off restarts (I like to remove the key each time) in a row with the steering wheel centred and not touched during the start cycle and see if the problem continues to occur.
