Well lads, I'm gutted to have finally had to put my car on carzone...its up for €27950. Most of you I met at the meet know this is a reluctant sale, but still it has to sell. I'd rather it went to a good home, but whoever comes in with the dosh first is going to be a winner.

I'm open to a good offer seeing as the car must sell, so if anyone you know is interested, put them my way and I'll serious consider any offers that are sensible.

Good luck with the sale, being a diesel it should attract some interest in the scared market that is out there.

I have my eye on a facelifted Ti 166 in Veloces if all goes well so all is not lost. Just a pity its a 2.0litre

Fair play to you Tom. Please stick with the Alfa! What a beauty the facelift 166 is-ever see Clarkson reviewing it on Top Gear?

I'm moving jobs in 3 weeks and so won't be around Naas anymore, but would love to meet up to get a look at the 166 if/when you get it.

I've been very disappointed of the selection of 159's available through the dealers in Ireland...only 1 or 2 examples with leather. The choice is terrible. I can see why Tim went to the UK for his. Its beats anything here hands down even taking his engine out of it

I nearly bought a car from Veloces-but was put off by the fact that they had bought it from a guy on e-bay that I had planned to go and see! Rotten luck there. They have a nice selection though and very handy to get to from Stansted-and very professional etc.

Tom, I went to the UK for my GT-much, much bigger selection. Too many with the Alfatex interior and 16" wheels over here....

Ok, took the car off Carzone for 2 reasons...#1 they are robbing gits charging monthly to renew the ad and #2, the amount of twits ringing me up telling me they had a load of buyers lined up and wanting €150 for the priviledge.

So its going to stay on the enthusiats sites for a while...

I've dropped the price down to €25,250.

The replacement car is due in the new year, but I would like to have it sold before then.

I'd be interested in a p/x for a GTV if anyone is looking to trade up, depending on condition/price, etc.

PS-I retract this comment after buying a 'genuine' Alfa alloy from Veloces.

Even better value now with exchange rate below 1.20! You're right there's much more choice and better specs from the UK. Not huge number of new 159s sold here and the extras are so expensive so the second hand market is sparse. I just used the internet to identify a few targets that were on the London tube/train system, contacted them by email to arrange a visit and went for it! One day to test drive, next day to buy and race for the ferry :)

The one problem with importing at the moment is, the open market selling price hasnt been affected like actual real life markets have been. This makes the VRT still very high.

Nothing you can do about the VRT really it's going to be expensive no matter what car you buy even my dads car was 4k to VRT I think.

My experience is if you give them enough backup and examples, they'll be reasonable. I reduced my VRT by 3k on appeal. They'll just go on past transactions until you show them otherwise.

I'm suprised you had anything over here that was sold to compare with yours, Tim. Can't have been too many 159Ti 3.2's
