2001 car on 51 plate with 140 bhp engine.

How hard is it to remove ( and how do you do it? ).

Is it something you can check/clean/service yourself.

I'm reasonable with spanners ( just done MAF and EGR etc. ) but unfamiliar with turbos.

What should I replace if I remove it - seals etc etc.?

cheers all.:)

Turbo's are pretty simple to remove but..... The blades spin in excess of 100,000rpm at times so its vital they are repaired properly. Servicing and stuff is a profesional job really. Servicing and repair probably one of the only things I wouldn't tackle. A straight swap would be pretty reasonable. The old saying comes to mind though of if it ain't broken, don't fix it!

Tinker with turbo= broken turbo.

The vanes are calibrated (only 1 machine for doing this in the UK!) and set, and the turbine micro balanced.

If it still works - LEAVE IT ALONE!
