I have been thinking about doing the same to my 1.9 but wasnt sure if it would throw up any faults with the lambda sensor being after the cat..?
I did this to my 1.9 jtd 156 as it didnt have a sensor in the cat and it made a big difference though I didnt use a special decat pipe, I just bought a second hand cat for about £25 and took the middle out.
I'm not sure about the 2.4 but the 1.9 uses the same cat as a vauxhall vectra and there is plenty on ebay for about £45 so I might try it, I think the 8 valve vauxhall uses the cat with the sensor after the cat.
