I have just got the latest edition of "feel" and in the letter it says that..

"..recent launch of 2 high performance, ultra efficient engines for the 159, which will also be available shortly in both Brera and Spider".

Great news. I would think these engines will increase appeal in both models.

Yes cheers SR, I have seen it. I like the look of it. Until this point I wasnt sure whether these new engines would make it into the Brera / Spider - particularly the MJ.

There is a story in the mag where they take one (a 159TBi) to the Alps. Its good though they dont say what mpg they got

Its only the 2.0 JTDm diesel at this stage I believe - there will be a Multijet 2 at some later stage- probably mid 2010 at the earliest.

Brera and Spider with these engines are due sometime in 2010 - not in UK price list yet

1750 is interesting - but would still lean towards 2.4 diesel, complete with all its compromises. Having said that, its unlikely I will replace my current 159 with another when the time comes

There is also a 2.0MJet Twin turbo lurking somewhere with plenty of power. No mention of that yet in anything other than the Milano (and possibly the Delta?)

Just got an Italian car mag "al volante". The new engined Brera/Spider are in there...

The 2.0MJ Brera has top speed of 218kph, 0-100kph is 8.8secs and CO2 is 142g/km. It weighs in at 1480kg. It costs 31,300 euro

The 1.8TBi Brera has top speed of 235kph, 0-100kph is 7.7secs and CO2 is 189g.km. It weighs 1430kg and is 29,800 euro.

Also of note is that you can no longer get the 159 with a 2.4MJ and a manual box, it is only available in QTronic.

Well i think that's really good news increasing the choice of engines! (apart from the 2.4 manual no longer available? I wonder if that will still be the case for the UK?)

So translated roughly....

The 2.0MJ Brera has top speed of 135mph, 0-62mph is 8.8secs and CO2 is 142g/km. It weighs in at 1480kg. It costs £27,758

The 1.8TBi Brera has top speed of 146mph, 0-62mph is 7.7secs and CO2 is 189g.km. It weighs 1430kg and is £26,427

Chris Variava have confirmed to me that the forward plan is to release the 2.0MJet Twin Turbo in the 159 in March this year. Power will be rated at 220bhp.

Of course that is the 'plan', whether it actually happens who knows?

Don’t know if I’ve missed some point but why does the same engine produce 35bhp more when fitted to the Giulietta than the Brera?
They've put it in the old cars for the initial production runs?

The 2.4 was 200BHP when it first appeared and they increased
it in subsequent production runs.

Also perhaps less changes for things like brakes and making it
an easier drop-in job. Remember the 2.2 only had 185BHP so
they've already added 15BHP with no other mods.

Well maybe Nev. Seems I’ll just have to wait a bit longer if that’s the case.

15bhp more is ok but 50bhp is a whole lot better and could put the car into the same performance bracket as the current 3.2 without the heavy feel.

The Delta is currently available with the 1.9 Twin turbo @ 190BHP. No Fiat group car yet has the 2.0 TT MJ. Hope the rumour about its arrival are true

I certainly hope so too as Mrs Spider 95 is replacing her washing machine this summer and a 159 Sportwagon equipped with the 2.0 Twin Turbo would be on the shopping list.........if it materialises that is:lol:
