My 147 2.0lt has begun to get a knocking noise, its is proportional to the revs of the engine but not the same timing, i cannot hear the knocking noise when it idleing, only when it gets revved. Around 2500rpm is the main. i went to a local garage and just of the sound he said it may be tappets or power steering pump? just asking on the forum first incase someone has had the same problem. also over the past week the temperature gauge (water temp, i think) has been fluctuating, in traffic it rises to 70 and onwards but once at 30 it drops below 70. this has happened twice however it was a very cold morning. Today however this has been fine! any ideas? could they be linked?

The fluctuating temperature gauge = new thermostat required.

As for the noise, can't tell via the web.
Hopefully you have already checked the oil level...!
