hi folks,

My 02 plate 2.0TS Spider has an irritating knocking sound from the rear when going around corners, i.e. turning left or right at junctions or sharp corners, not sweeping bends or straight ahead.

Had a search of the forum but couldn't find anything describing my problem, most posts seem to be knocks over pot holes and bumps on B roads.

I do know one of the n/s dog leg transverse arm bushes is a little knackered, but was not an MOT fail earlier this year and advised don't worry about it. Could that be the culprit ? what about rear shock absorbers, any way to check ? looked at mine and seem original with no leaks, and no excessive bouncing.

Any thoughts what it might be before I waste piles of cash...aranoid:

Likely to be bushes on either the dogleg or springarm or both.

Have a look at the area where the handbrake cable runs along ( and should be clipped to ) the springarm. You may see evidence of rubbing.

Don't ignore it as you'll end up destroying the subframe if it is the bushes.

Mine used to knock on roundabouts until i powerflexed the springpan bushes,but as pkr says,it could also be the doglegs.

thanks for the speedy replies guys, will investigate replacing dog leg bushes first as one was pulled up on MOT as being a bit knackered. Then afterwards will investigate replacing spring pan bushes if required.
