Hi

I have a 2001 Spider 3.0 V6 24v, 130k mikes, with an expired engine, cracked head & when it was running a very noisy gearbox.

I have the chance of a crashed 1998 GTV 3.0 V6 24v. I'm thinking of transplanting the whole GTV engine & gearbox into the spider

A couple of (or three!) questions:

1) are these two engines identical?
2) will I also need to take any ECU or other parts from the GTV to make it run in the spider
3) is there anything else I should be concerned about?

Thanks

Rich

If it's exactly the same engine, I'd guess on being able to use the donor engine but retaining the original loom and ECU

I stand to be corrected though as I've not worked on AR before, but going by other marques then that is usually the logic.

Unless the ECU is controlled by a built in immobiliser, then I think you'd need the key/chip and transponder aswell as the ECU

use all your electrics, intake system(plenum chamber, throttle body & maf) & 'exhaust/cats', I think everything else is the same.

Edit: Sorry I thought it said Ph1, intake should be the same.

Good luck.
