Hello All,

So my 1996 Spider has arrived! Paint is done, top is done, all mechanicals done. Eibach springs to lower. I'm really enjoying driving the car. One problem. I have the original stereo and on FM, I try to tune it beyond 90.0. It won't do so and skips to Channel 1, 2 and 3. The tuning starts at 72.0 and goes to 90.0. The car is originally from Japan and has an original Sony Alfa Romeo stereo. Any tips on how I can fix this? I need the tuning to go to 108.0.

Once I have the car cleaned up, I'll post some pics.

Two options really.

Find a car radio specialist/repair centre ( not your typical car audio shop! ) to see if the radio can be reconfigured for North America.

Alternatively, it is possible a UK/EU radio will work as their tuning range is 87.5 to 108.

Incidentally, Sony is not the original unit. The original unit is Alfa branded and made by Clarion ( unless a different unit was fitted for Japanese cars ). The chassis ID for the Clarion unit is PU-9907A. It may be possible to find a service manual online.

EDIT : Third option - find a local Amateur Radio guy and see if he/she can take a look.

You can get really easy to fit Frequency Converters, if you can find a website in your area that sells them. I used some in Cyprus and although I can't remember the price exactly they were very cheap and worked well enough.

:thumbs: Hi Bruno, it just goes into the aerial lead, i.e. aerial into one end of it and the other end plugs into the aerial socket on the radio. You then need to find a 12 volt supply and that's it. The boxes aren't very big so just hide it away somewhere behind the radio.
