Guys, I need some input. Having a dispute with my insurer (and incompetent dealer) who claims 1) the last 3.2 166 was manufactured in 2002 (mine is a 2006 reg); 2) there were no 'Ti's before the 2008 159 Ti.

So:
- was the 166 manufactured outside of Italy (my VIN is ZARxxxxxx)
- was the Ti badge a local (South African) thing only?

Thoughts?

in the UK the facelifted version did not come out until 2004, and the 3.2 was part of that revamp. All Alfa VINs start ZAR, Z = made in Italy, see here

How To Read A Car's VIN

and that should also allow you to work out the year of manufacture.

The Ti badge s not unique to SA, or even the 166, but has been used on the 146, 147, 159 etc
