Hi All,
For about 3 months now, I have experienced an intermittent judder. I have freewheeled and it does not change. The steering wheel shudders a fraction but not as much as I would expect if it was something wrong with the front.
It has only happened on probably 10 occasions and it seems to go if I turn the engine off, wait a minute, and start again.
The first time it happened I pulled in to a lay-by, checked the wheels and when I pulled away it was fine. I have had 2 new tyres on the front and the discs showed no sign of a brake catching. My local garage took the rears off and found nothing. Typically, they drove the car and the judder did not happen.
Anyone had anything similar??
Any advice gratefully received.

I'm sure I had a similar thing for a while. It was happening when the DPF regen started. It seemed to only do it on the motorway during some roadworks at 50mph.

I've had the same, except that mine has the 2.0JTDM. Happens at low speed only, going up through the gearbox. Is it the flywheel? Or is the engine stumbling? The map itself?

Thanks for the replies.
It hasn't been occurring at low speed, but when I slow down using the brakes, it does get worse, which I expect.
The re-gen is an interesting idea as it occurs approx once a tank. It's just I can't understand why the steering wheel does not seem to transmit the judder, if it's to do with the engine. Also it does the same when freewheeling. The rev counter is not fluctuating when i pull over to a standstill.

The local independent is a good chap, and has advised me to bring it in next time it occurs. Not an Alfa specialist, but his knowledge has grown since I've had this one
