Drove to the inlaws in Penzance yesterday from the midlands and most of the way, either due to the fog/damp air or because of having to us washers on screen we had a terrible high pitched whistle from the roofbox or bars..... has anyone else with the Thule setup had this issue and solved it?

The last four or five times its been like this but now it seems worse than ever, i have the aero bars as well....

Like i say it usually only does it when raining or when i use the washers....

maybe try repositioning them. if your SW has the factory roof rails, you can slide the whole lot back, or maybe forwards. also try offsetting the box to one side.

unless you can get the car into a wind-tunnel lab ;) you won't be able to determine where the turbulence is exactly. so it's a matter of suck it and see.

mind you, i've had racks on a couple different cars (not the 159SW yet), and they always suffer from some amount of whistle.

:)
