I've got a 2011 159 TBi - please can someone tell me how to adjust the user equalizer settings on the stereo - i've followed the manuals' instructions but it won't let me adjust each bar frequency?! Any ideas thanks?

From one of your old posts Nev, which made it work for me...

Once it shows USER you push the up to get
the graphic equaliser and then left and right
to select the band and up/down to set the level.

I think.

The I press menu twice to get out.

Deffo push up when in the USER Eq setting.

Edit: There's a "feature": If you don't go directly to USER Eq and hold "up" it doesn't work.

In this case, exit the audio setting and go back in with USER Eq already displayed
hold "up" and it'll work.

i know nothing about eq settings... ive got into the edit mode, how best would i set miine up? is their a way of deciding whether to higher or lower a frequency.
Try these settings and see what you think, after quite a bit of playing with them this was my prefered option. A few others on here have tried them and liked them too :)

:
Loud: ON
Balance - 0
Fader - 2 to the rear
Equalizer
64 +1
160 -1
400 -1
1000 +2
2500 -0
6250 +1
16khz -0

Did eq settings only become available on later models ?
No - to the best of my knowledge there are only 3 Hi fi models fitted to the 159 - the Bose, which doesnt have EQ settings, the pioneer or similar upgrade and the other 'standard' unit (Cant remember who makes them, its a portuguese electronics company begining with a P i think?)

The standard models all have EQ settings so far as i know?

Alfa widely use clarion, blaupunkt in other models but the 159 was a custom job from day 1.

Thanks, that explains it. I have Bose so therefore don't have EQ, though I don't see why Bose should miss out ???

I thought the headunits were standard, with Bose purely based on extra connections used on the rear (which is why I had to handle extra pin when I added AUX input). I have also upgraded to the official Alfa Mp3 headunit, but otherwise it is exactly the same headunit.

Standard unit is Blaupunkt.
(Basically the same as the 147 and facelift 156 Blaupunkts in terms of functions/quality.)

They've always had the EQ setting.

Bose deactivates the EQ via a signal on one of the plugs irrc.

I only use "Loud" when at relatively low volumes and turn it off
with the volume up. (When on the motorway etc.)

Ah Nev as ever your right. The 939Cd standard fit is blaupunkt - just made in Portugal. Though my local dealer told me it was made by someone else when my old one broke so ill blame them
