With lights on low beam I've got the drivers side outer light brightly lit and the passenger side middle light lit dimly.

Could anyone tell me what lights are meant to be on with low beam? I can't remember!

middle lamps are side lights / indicators. outside lamps are low beam.

With low beam you should have sides and low beam ( middle and outers )

Sounds like your low beam bulb has blown For the headlights you won't get a warning on the dash.
