Hi,
my uncle had his 159 1.9 JTS petrol's rings mains & big ends done as it used oil and the valve seals was fine.

Everything done good and well after few k's engine management light comes on.
Diagnostic says cam sensor. Replaced it R400 with delivery from alfa centurion. Cleared code. Same thing after few k's. Now waiting for second sensor as it has 2 sensors.

Now this is my thought no problems sensor wise before ring change. As a member on the forum said it may be stretched timing chain or 99% timing.

Any thoughts?

For a modern engine, design and oils I would suspect that replacing the chain would be never! Chain drive on Alfetta 2.0 GTV still going strong 123k miles later! That is assuming the chain is effectively running in an oil bath.

I admit though that I have never worked on the later Alfa petrols but the chain must be in a permanent oil bath isn't it?

Stretched chains on the 159/Brera JTS engines in a well known issue.
It doesn't fail, it just stretches enough for the cam phase sensor to notice a problem and bring the light on.

That's progress for you!
GTV 1978 = duplex
30 years later and stretchy simplex being used!
However, GTV duplex may have stretched but tensioner mech (oh so simple on these) and cam timing adjustment (oh so simple in these) has been adjusted for it.
