Previously drove Alfa 156 2.0 twin valve for circe 11 years and had several electrical faults over the years e.g. car windows didn't open or shut on command but mechanically was sound & engine wise never ever let me down.

As a result of the engine reliability of the previous alfa I bought a 2nd hand 159 11 months ago from Mangoletsi.

Within 1st month had warning lights indicating faults with injector system & diagnosed as problem with Diesel particulate filter getting clogged. After several forced regenerations back at the dealership ultimately had new inlet manifold, EGR valve and intectors + new DPF fitted by dealer.

No problems for last 6 months until today:mad:

Driving to work 1st thing after Xmas (No problems at all over Xmas) got to end of my road & engine cut out at 1st roundabout as I was trying to turn right. This caused the power steering to also not function resulting in me having to freewheel straight ahead, luckily no accident.

After this, the engine would try to start & was nearly kicking in but wouldn't fully start. AA repair man could not find a fault but also could not get it to start either. Took to local garage & they also could not find a fault code or get to start correctly.

Now booked in to dealership to see if they can fix it.

Worried now since if this happened again & I was driving at speed & road was not straight would likely crash the car.

Has anybody had the same fault & if so how was it cured

What are my rights with the dealership (Have level 2 standard cover warrenty) can I ask for a refund since the car is potentially unsafe to drive.:(

The dealership have changed the battery for a new one and now it works ok so they say. They are going to restart it tomorrow morning when cold to see if it still works OK. Still do not feel safe driving this on motorway since in future if the battery is not at 100% it may happen again. I'll be asking for a refund.

Picked up today now fixed. Fault found in battery and replaced. Faults found at dealership were p0205 injection valve cylinder 5 and p2294 fuel pressure low. After over a decade of driving Alfas thinking of getting something else.
