Hello all,

I've read about some issues with stretched timing chains on the 2.2 JTS engine.

Are there any early symptoms, such as timing chain rattle upon cold start up for example? Anything I should watch out for? Do the engine management sensors pick up a problem or does the engine not have sensors for the chain?

Just finding my way around 159 ownership and the things to look out for!

I was told that if its rattling, it needs sorting asap

The chains can go early too im afraid :(
I'm probably being picky, but for a moment (less than a second) when I start the car there is a rattle from the engine. Never comes back at any other time, even when starting engine again when warm. Engine runs sweet as a nut apart from what I've described. Normal?

Im not sure tbh, i didn't notice a start up rattle, but first symptoms is usually loss of power at different levels and engine managment light coming on (and off)
