Hi Guys,

New to the forum but after reading multiple threads i purchased a non-running 159 2.2 auto on Wednesday. When i collected the vehicle i run a diagnostics and found there was no communication to the gearbox and as such the car was a non-starter. After 20mins i found the earth strap under the battery had snapped and so repaired this. To the previous owners amazement the car started and ran perfectly with only one fault code for which i cannot remove. This is stored in the gearbox and is P081A. From what i can find it is a start disable relay fault. But the only thread i can see stated that a tcm replacement cured his. As stated the car drives without fault but flashes up check gearbox. If i clear the fault when the car is running it does not return until i cut the car out and restart. I have rechecked the earth, looked for obvious wiring faults but i cant seem to get to the bottom of it. Its one of the annoying problems that does not prevent me using the vehicle in any way shape or form but annoys the hell out of me as i like to know my cars are perfect.

The car itself has only done 45k with full service history and is on an 07 plate. Im literally pulling my hair out with this so any help would be appreciated.
