I keep seeing oil patches on my drive. Only fairly small amounts. The bar oil indicator on the the dash is up and down all the time, the dipstick indicates that there is plenty of oil in the engine. Anybody got any ideas where the oil may be coming from.

Check oil cooler/radiator tubes...
Mine was exactly like yours and it was one of the tubes.
It's not an uncommon fault...

Took the car to the garage today to have oil leak investigated. They found that the leak was coming from the base of the tube that houses the dipstick. Apparently the seal had failed and oil was being sprayed along the bottom of the car. Anybody else experienced this?

I haven't had any leaks yet, but sounds like a solid diagnosis and hopefully a straight forward repair.

Repair done within 24 hours by Motormech in BIRMINGHAM. Very reliable wouldn't go anywhere else.

How much did the repair cost you?

I have this suspicion my 2011 2.0 Sportwagon has the same problem - it's been dripping a bit and having removed the undertray yesterday, the heatshield part of it was literally swimming in oil and the sump was very wet.

Wiping it all down, I ran the engine with the undertray removed, and low and behold, a dribble of oil eventually ran from the block where the dipstick tube came down, and dripped down the side of the sump.

Having looked, access to the tube seems a right swine - it's seems like it is buried behind the DPF - so I think I will leave this one to my local specialist and let them deal with it!

Oil leak
