I've had the Novitec box fitted for a year with absolutely no problems. Seems to do what it says on the tin, car certainly punchier and quicker although I've not had it dyno'd so can't confirm the power claims.

I'm selling the 159 and will be removing the box (tomorrow in fact) so you could get one on the cheap! :thumbs:

What's the 1750 like tuned? Are they quick and what's the power delivery like?

I've been offered a 1750 159 ti at a reasonable price so was wondering if it was worth considering?

Bit of double posting going on here by me, sorry about that. I posted a longer response in your thread in the 159 section.

159 1750 tbi + Novitec powerjet 3 = :D :thumbs:

To answer my OP question. I fitted a novitec powerjet 3 and it is brilliant. No figures or anything like that, sorry. The car just drives better and stretches its legs much more eagerly than before.

Well I'm planning on getting a GQV soon and already made plans for my Powerjet 3 getting it end of Feb but don't have the G yet, lol.

Apparently with the Powerjet3 you'll get 191 kw or just over 260 bhp however some guys in SA have already tuned the ecu and can get about 203kw if I can remember off the G at 1.6bar boost

Isn't all that going to put a tad bit of pressure on various components? Clutch, turbo, tyres, etc...? To be honest, living in the South East of the UK there really isn't much space to use more than what I have. If the car is approaching 235bhp then I'm happy, if it isn't it still feels much more responsive and I'm still happy. Then again, I'd imagine that there is probably a bit more space in South Africa :)

159 clutch

Does anyone know what the 159 clutch is good for (in terms of torque)?

I got all carried away and installed the powerjet 3 and now I'm starting to worry about clutch wear. I think I'm being silly but the thought is nawing away at the back of my mind.

I'm sure the box/clutch will be fine. It's more about driving style, so not dumping the clutch at high revs, or accelerating before the clutch is disengaged, accelerating hard in a high gears etc. As the old rule says 'stir the box' and use the gears.

If you were adding more severe mods like dry nitrous charge cooling etc then an uprated clutch might be called for, but a small remap in a box will do no harm :thumbs:

Went on a bit of a road trip yesterday, 70 miles of town, country and motorway driving. Fuel consumption on TRip B averaged 32mpg :wow: A figure I had never seen before even when resetting Trip B on the motorway in 50mph speed restrictions. I was doing about 75-85mph on the motorway this time around.

Is that down to flase readings, or, will it be a genuine increrase in mpg? Less revs and right foot required to pootle along at a given speed?

Mostly down to the box confusing the trip computer I am sorry to say, though when driven carefully you may be scavenging a few more MPGs here and there.

Yes, thought so... Still it was a nice thought for a while. I'm still loving it, though your thread about your clutch giving up the ghost is a bit worrying. But then I guess your 2.4 is putting quite a bit more strain on the clutch then my tbi.

Ingnorance is bliss I say - forget what I said, I reckon the computer is spot on actually. ;)

Yeah it is the low down torque that reduces clutch life of tuned diesels.

I had the Mangos box and boost mod done to my old 1.9 GT JTD and the clutch started slipping after about 2,000 miles, whilst my 2.4 has just done exactly the same post remap.

I am sure you will be fine with the TBI as it has less peak torque and the delivery is by nature more progressive.

I drove a Mangos fettled 159 TBi just after they were released and it was lurvely to drive - really smooth and light in the nose. I would love one. Hope you are enjoying yours. :thumbs:
