Hi all,

I've had my '57 159 Sportswagon nearly a year now and clocked up almost £4k in repair bills. I think I may have another coming.

The turbo pressure gauge is now very high at most times whilst driving.

Can you all let me know what your gauge's read if you are in 5th doing 50mph at around 1,500 rpm? My gauge is between 1.6 and 1.8.

Today I was on cruise control doing 80 in 6th and the gauge was on max.

I know there is an issue because I had the DPF removed and remap (Alfatune) and my avg mpg was raring up from the low 30's to the high 30's. I had some running problems which my local Alfa specialist sorted and since then I now have this pressure issue and am now back in the low 30's again.

Many thanks

Olly

Mine is also remaped but by Motormech, the boost comes in a lot quicker than it did when standard but only reaches 1.5 bar as I asked for the map to favour economy rather than max power, it reaches max boost on part throttle very quickly over about 2000 rpm but when cruising at 60-70 mph it is under half on the gauge.
Sounds like yours is too high, possible causes will be the map sensor on the back of the manifold or the vnt control valve on the slam panel.
Your mpg is very low, mine does low 40's round town and 50+ on a motorway run.
Speak to the fellas who did the map, they will tell you what the boost should be doing

Cheers for the replies, I'll take it back to the specialist.

First the DPF removal and remap as the DPF was knackered, a service in which everything needed replacing, then more recently a new clutch and dual mass fly wheel, all the bolts were sheared so they had to take the whole front off the car off.
