I have a 2002 156 1.8ts. My car recently started to get a light vibration through all rpms higher than 2000. I didn't think much of it but now I have an unusual noise coming from the engine. Its more of like a rattling sound ( I posted a link to the vid). It sounds like it is coming from under the cam cover. I read that it may be the variator but it doesn't sound like a diesel. It also happens at all rpm ranges. The oil level is also adequate. Any thoughts would be appreciated?

When was the cam-belt, tensioners etc changed?
Get the cover off and inspect everything closely until you have don't drive it!

If you post pics with the cam-belt cover off we may be able to spot something but to me it sounds as if the pulley/tensioner is loose/knackered.

that's not the news I wanted to hear. What all should I have them change out during the cam belt?
