I bought a 147 JTD Lusso today, I'm trading in my 156 1.8 Tourismo, the 156 is costing to much to run (petrol, road tax etc...) but is a great reliable car, hopefully the 147 will give me better economy with the same enjoyment of the 156.

anyone else made the same move? Have I done the right thing?

Well of course, you could have got a 1.9JTD 156! The 147 is a lovely car though, and will be a very similar drive to a 156.

I did exactly the same thing 3 years ago (although I stayed with a 156). I always promised myself a GTA after my 156 Selespeed but fuel prices were going through the roof and I plumped for a diesel. I've never regretted it. The sound isn't as good, but with a remap not only is the performance better in virtually every way, but the economy is excellent. The 1.9JTD is a very strong and durable unit and not too industrial when you get the revs over 2000rpm. I drive her hard and have a lot of fun, but still return 45mpg.

I thought they weigh about the same?

Or at least a 2.0 156 weighs about the same as a 2.0 147

Had my 156 2.0 for 3 years and loved every minute of it, but the same as you, prices at the pumps, and not great economy from the TS meant I parted company with it...but I'm now the proud owner of a 147 JTD 1.9Multi-Jet...all I can say is that you won't be disappointed with your purchase!:thumbs:...as much as I loved the 156, I adore the 147...it may be a diesel, but it's a fantastically smooth engine, and returning at least 45mpg, (although the trip computer says 56.2mpg average, I think this may be a little ambitious!)...feels lovely and tight to drive, and looks beautiful...:inlove:

Thanks all, that's exactly what I was wanting to hear, really looking forward to getting my new car, if I get 45mpg from it I will be more than happy, I'm currently getting about 30mpg from my 156, it's been a great car with no mechanical trouble in nearly 3 years, I hope the 147 is just as reliable.
