Hi. Been getting a low thudding noise from my rear suspension, specialist checked it over, reckons it worn. If it turns out I've got Novimat (he didn't say), I'm going to replace it with a standard Veloce set up, which shouldn't be to hard to get hold of from a breakers. Question is, is the standard Saloon Veloce set up the same as the standard SW Veloce set up, and can I use pre facelift on the post facelift? Any pointers or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Saloon Veloce pre- or post- facelift will be the best solution if you have to replace the Nivomat struts. All Veloce SWs had Nivomat so there is no direct replacement. You'll have to change the shocks, springs and strut top mounts.
Cheers,
Simon

I have the exact same problem but have hung on due to the cost of the Nivomats....
Are you saying that saloon Veloce shocks will fit without affecting ride height etc?

You need to change the shocks, springs and top mounts which should give you the same ride height, can't guarantee it because the rear of a Sportwagon must be a bit heavier than a saloon.

Thanks. Will look at getting a rear std veloce replacement. I always liked it on my 1.8 anyway, and even if it rides a couple of cm higher, which I think it might, I don't see a problem with that. I also understand it is called Nivomat!

Rear of a SW is slightly heavier than a saloon, but the max loaded vehicle weight is the same for both (meaning the Saloon can actually carry more load than the Sportwagon!), so fully loaded it won't be lower than it should be.
