Hi,
Wonder if anyone could help my mate who I play football with.

He bought a 2000 156 a few months ago and the car had been working well.

A week ago the stereo stopped working, fuse had gone and was duly replaced. He checked stereo again and still not working. He borrowed another stereo with no luck.
After the snow his battery had died, called the AA out, they jumped it, and the car runs, but still the stereo is not working.

He assures me that all the fuses he can get at are fine.

Help anyone?

Just phoned him. He replaced one in the glovebox - all OK... and He has checked the ones in the fuse box under the steering wheel area.

EDIT: both stereo fuses were fine

next step is to use a multimeter and confirm that power is where it should be - if there's no power (+12V) then there remains a fault. if there is power, then the headunit could be dead.

the factory unit probably has a schematic diagram stuck atop it showing what wire is what. but the main 'constant' powerwire is in position A7. in a 2000 156, there is probably also a 'switched' ignition wire in position A4 (0V when key OFF, +12V when key ON).

:)
