So I'm using one of these at the moments.

its a 2000ad 156 lusso t spark - 2 litre.

there was a point where it would cut out once the temp went up above 90 degrees. turned out some exhaust sensor had failed, and once replaced, all was well again.

what kind of things generally go wrong with these cars at this age? bodywork is sound, engine is sound - is it generally electronics that are going to start giving me issues?

if so, whats the best way to diagnose these faults - is there a piece of software I can buy and if so, what kind of connector is required and where does it plug in - a la USB 2.0?

thanks

FiatEcuScan is a useful piece of software available free for a basic version, you need a suitable connection cable - freely available on Ebay, or from certain members on here - do a search and you'll find them.

As far as the car in general goes, you've probably found one of the most common faults - the crank sensor that you've had replaced - the other most common fault is the MAF (or airflow meter) which are something of a service item. The cambelt and tensioners will of course need changing at 36K mile intervals......
