Lately my wife 156 JTS has started to use a bit more oil than it previously has done.
Could the root cause be a blocked breather valve?
Has anyone experience with this topic?

The breather valve (p/n 71713715) is not the most expensive part so I think I will buy a new one just to rule out that this is not the root cause.

Hej Henrik. As you probably know some JTS engines have a tendency to consume oil. How many km has it done and what was the consumption before and now. It will never harm to fit a new breather valve.
It seems that 10W-60 oil is the recommenced oil type, is that what is in it?

I know the JTS engine tend to use oil.
The car has done approx. 150.000km
The consumption before was approx. 1L/10000km, but now it is twice as much.
The oil used is Selenia Racing 10W-60

Sorry Henrik, I don't know the real science behind it.

But I had a faulty o2 sensor (found it via error code) and before changing it I was going through about 5L of oil a month and since changing sensor zero loss of oil.
Wasnt a alfa though

1L/10000 km is a moderate consumption for the 2,0 JTS, 2 L is not a lot.
Have you changed the breather valve? Simply check the oil every 2nd. fil up (petrol that is). If not, try to remove the oil cap and see/feel how much pressure is coming out this way. If a lot change the breather valve
NB! My former 155 and 156 2,0 TS didn't need topping up while I had them until 140 Km/215 km between oil changes (10-15.000 km).
