Hi

Before entering into an argument with the local Alfa dealership...

156 1.9 JTD Sportwagon went in for 50k KMs service last week.

My wife collected the car and drove it home. I drove it over the weekend and noticed quickly that it felt sluggish and low on power. Putting my foot down I noticed the turbo was not kicking in at the normal revs - or any revs at all?

We called the dealer on Monday morning and told them - car came in for service with turbo working - came back with no turbo. Obviously they said they'd not touched it and it couldn't be a problem they caused. As the car was due to go back to them this week pending delivery of a 50 euro bit of rubber gasket they'd only bothered to fit to one side of the windscreen (another farcical story), I told them we'd not bring it back until they had the rubber - we'd be without a car as getting a courtesy car from them is... not easy.

Anyway - thought I would ask if anyone knows what could be wrong before they (probably) tell me it needs a new X at a huge cost of X and its not their fault!

It sounds like the engine is mis-firing when idle and also 'bumps' to a halt when the ignition is switched off.

Any comments very much appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like you have a vac problem. Is the MIL light on?
Second thought did they unplug the MAF and leave it unplugged? I did it once after changing the air filter(2.4jtd) and it gave me symptoms as you describe.
