Hi

I have a strange thing happening with my 156 JTD.
The car is a 2005 model facelift and I have noticed that when I accelorate the car wobbles a little.

I thought at first it was wheel balance, but that is OK, tyre pressures, but they are all fine, I even changed all 4 tyres as it was suggested that they were shot too, but the wobble is still there.

The only way to describe it is if you have a wheel that is weighted on one side, if you turn it slowly it has no bearing atall, but the faster you turn it, there is a wobble like it is off balance.

Then form time to time when the car is driving and more so when turning corners there is a drumming knocking noise, not really looud but loud enough to hear, and it is worse if I have passengers in the car.

The car was very dificult to drive 2 days ago when I have 3 passengers in the car, so extra weight bearing down on the car but evenly.

Could it be an issue with the suspension?

I have changed all brakes on the car, top and bottom arms at the front so all is good under the car and has barely done 2000 miles since installed.

I am really not sure what is could be atall?

Could it be the drive shafts perhaps?

Any help or advice is really appreciated as I really want this fixed now.....

Thanks again

ddid you put genuine arms on or ebay cheapies

worn shocks can give problems but i would get car jacked up and check all mountings are tight

the arms were unipart ones - all seem fine as I checked them all - all bolts are tight and there is no play atall.
Will check mountings all round

Thanks

And yes - will sort wobble before dropping it 30mm.. ;-) - Springs are Ebiach and shocks are gas....

i had very very similar problems, mine came to light shortly after changing top wishbones......i was getting close to needing new tyres so also swapped them and still no cure.
the problem was a wheel bearing, even though i felt no play in the wheel when jacked up and vigorously shaken...was told afterwards if u spin the wheel while holding the coil spring u will feel it through your hand....i also had the thumping when turning and also noise changed with passengers onboard

i also thought it could be drive shafts......but nope to everything it was indeed a wheel bearing
they are press fit and it was the passenger side inner one that had failed......once it came clear of driveshaft it was very very obvious !!!

so mate my money is on the wheel bearing

so i was told.......after i had fixed mine.. so i cannot vouch for it

i took my hub assembly down to alfatech in huddersfield and it cost me £100 for the bearing kit, fitting and vat.
its not a huge job to remove hub assy, as long as u gotta thin wall 36mm socket and a long strong pry bar to do the hub knut
oh one thing to remember is to unplug the abs sensor under the bonnet and pull wire through as they are easily damaged trying to remove from the hub !! and they are not cheap

My wifes mito had a vibration at 50mph so we rotated tyres and then had wheels balanced, no difference.
Finally took it to specialist who discovered a damaged inner gaiter on driveshaft, he replaced gaiter and repacked
with c.v grease and now shaking has gone, car is used/ secondhand and highish miles and according to technician there wasn't much grease left so caught just in time.

i have that exact same issue and need to resolve it ASAP, I had tracking and balance of the front wheels and no change.

my gut tells me it is a wheel bearing, just not sure is all...

I know my arb bushes need doing but not sure that could cause this wobble.
