Hi guys & girls,

My 156 1.9 JTD 16v Multijet has been off the road for about 6 weeks now!!!
The story so far.....
Driving home from work & car just cut out after turning off a roundabout. It cranked over ok but would not fire.
After towing to mechanic, (who was a mechanic for an Alfa Dealership for years), he put it on the Alfa diagnostic m/c, but it showed no faults watsoever!
He then proceeded to test various things. Eventually, by a process of elimination, he tested each of the injectors and found that they were not triggering. He also tested the signal lines to each injector from the ecu and they were all reading zero volts with the ignition turned on.
He asked me to get the ecu checked and tested by a company in England who specialise in these things. After about 2 weeks, they came back and said that they were a bit unsure about the ecu, but they would replace the central processing chip in the ecu. If there was a fault within the ecu this would clear everything.
I got the ecu back, put it in the car and re-tried but with no success. Same problem. As the ecu work was guaranteed, I got my money back minus the test fee!! However, the guy from the ecu test company stated that as they had replaced the central processing chip, then the ecu was "most definately not at fault!!"
After this the mechanic went thru the wiring loom, tracing each of the 8 signal wires for the 4 injectors, but could not find any degradation or breakages.
He is currently going to try a replacement pressure regulator for the high pressure diesel pump, just to rule it out, but he says that if this was the case, normally there would be a fault code on the diagnostic check.
Therefore, after all the work done so far, and the effort put in by the mechanic, we are not any closer to solving the problem!!
Have any of you out there ever come across an issue like this before?
If so, did u get it resolved and how?
I'm at my wits end, cause I luv my 156, but this is really choking me.

I would appreciate any feedback...

Cheers,
Alan.

Could be the Cam sensor.
No signal and the Injetcors would not fire.
Duff sensor would normaly trigger the Engine light, but not always.
best regards

Renew_156 has not posted since February 2010 so I doubt you'll get an answer.

Sounds like he had a defective ECU/ECM driver.

No4 injector only not working should be injector itself or wiring (which would show a code) so most likely an injector fault.
