Hi all,

I have a 1.9 JTD 16v 156. Everything going well with it, touch wood. It will be turning 4 years old next Jan/Feb I think. It's just coming up to 54K miles on the clock. I've read here that most recommend to have the belt kit changed every 4 years or around 60K miles. I planned to do it around next February, reckon this should be safe enough??
I was going to buy the belt kit, water pump, etc. myself and have a good local indie do the change for me. I'm in Ireland and have a quote of €300 (£240) for the parts. Can they be gotten any cheaper in Uk??
Any comments or advice appreciated.

I hadn't thought that the indy could get the parts trade discount. I must mention this alright. I've spoken to one or two and they said it's probably a 4-5 hour job???? Dont know how accurate this is!
Say €250-300 for parts and 50-60 per hour for labour, estimate €600 + VAT for the whole job. Think that comes to about £475 + VAT roughly! Not surprising, everything is dearer in Ireland.
