I have been offered a very nice 2005 156 sportwagon in vgc etc etc. I am very tempted but its the 8v engine and I have always driven the 16v variant and am concerned that I will be annoyed by the lack in power.

I have done a quick search but cannot find anything so ask the question is a 16v a straight swap? I assume I will need the ecu and probably the loom as well. Anyone tried it or is it simpler just to get a remap?

TIA

It's possible but really not worth the effort. These cars are worth £2000 at best now! The 8V is arguably the better engine given the age of the car and potential problems. Just buy a different one if you're desperate for the 16V or live with the 8V. On paper the power difference looks like it would be a problem but I think the 8v still pulls ok. Maybe a remap would close the gap sufficiently?
