Hi all,

I meed to get a roof rack for my 156 GTA sportwagon. There are no roof rails so i was wondering if anyone else has bought a roof rack for their SW and where did you get if from?

Cheers

Ditto to the above. Ebay for genuine bars. But I haven't seen any advertised for quite awhile. I'm sure Thule will do something that fits. My genuine ones had a curve in them though, which made them look better, but not particularly useful....!

Ben, you don't need GTA specific roof bars as they are the same as any standard 156 SW. Back in 2005 I purchased a set off a mate who had a JTD SW and they fitted straight on my previous GTA, I too am looking for a set aswell. I'm thinking of checking out some breakers yards for any SW's that might have some attached, worth ago I reckon.

You could be really flash and get the rails for the car and then get the alfa bars. they werwe £130 a side last time I checked as I wanted for the JTD

I got some with the car. I was told they were official Alfa ones but they dented the roof. I had to get dent devils to sort it out. Given that if I needed to carry anything on the roof, I think I'd use my freelander. I'd possibly let you have them for postage cost, but, as I said, they did dent my roof!

Cheers for the replies,

Quite a few place do not list a roof rack for the 156 SW without roof rails.

I'm assuming then that its the same fitment as the saloon then? I'm really after the Thule kit with aero bars.

Yes, you'll defo need the rails/bars before you can fit the rack/thule to the car.

The rails do add another dimension to the cars asthetics, I had the silver ones which did look cool.

I meant to say Gta, don't recall seeing it as an option in the brochure. Thought about the only options were xenons sunroof and satnav.
Not sure then. As they offer them as an option on the normal sw why not the GTA

No idea, seems odd. I could well have overlooked it as I was only browsing it and not looking for roofrails! Next time I dig it out I'll have a look.

Thule dont list them as they make the genuine alfa ones for alfa.

I picked up a set of alfa aero bars on eBay - very good bit of kit but have seen some really bent ones on eBay in the past. Very expensive new at £240 I think?

As for rails... Don't know if it's the same as 159 but can't be retro fitted as roof is strengthened for rails at the factory.

I spoke to the dealers today about buying the rails for the roof and having th retro fitted buy he said they would be approx £5-600 for parts alone?

I would like to have the rails fitted as I quote often carry ladders and my bike on the roof. Has anyone had it done?
